I would agree with most here in that "pre-loved" doll bargains are not easy to find. (Especially on ebay lately.) However, I was able to come across Addy and Kirsten (whom has assumed the identity of a little Polish girl) - and, I must say, they have a special appeal that a new doll just does not have. They have a previous life that I will never know. It's hard to put a finger on what exactly just makes them unique. They come in a non-AG box...there's excitement of not knowing exactly what condition she is in, putting her in new clothes, making her part of my "family." New dolls are exciting too - and there is certainly lots of anticipation in waiting for the new doll to arrive, but it's not the same.

Both, although it depends on what character. If it is a Molly or Kirsten I love the pre-loved ones that have a past.

All of my girls are new, with the exception of my childhood Molly, who was bought in 1991. She does tug at my heart strings, but sometimes I consider making her a Today girl and getting a minty Molly for my collection.
I enjoy playing with my dolls and cuddling with them, but I also like when I'm not playing with them for them to be beautiful show pieces, so I'd rather go new whenever possible. And as alot of people have mentioned, it's not always easy to get an ebay deal. However, if I ever see ANY AG doll, outfit, accesories, etc. at a thrift store or garage sale, I'm getting it even if I already have it! There's nothing like the rush of a thirft store find!

All but one of my dolls(Marisol) are from ebay--I just love the PM facemolds! But one of my favorites is Mattel Samantha, who came in almost mint condition! Go figure.
AND I also love that new doll smell!
SO hard to choose! I just love them all! [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I really like the preloved ones for myself. I have been dissappointed with the hair on a couple but I have enjoyed rewigging them. For DD I prefer new. We did get her a Felicity on ebay for Christmas. Her hair was terrible so we sent her in for a new head. Cost wise I came out OK but in hindsight we should have bought new. I know buying a naked doll then having to get her outfit usally doesn't save much but I look at it as an installment plan too. Somehow if I get a doll for $40-$45 then the outfit for $25 it doesn't seem like I've spent as much - LOL.

Brand new that way in case she has loose limbs even if she is not pre-mattel, so we don't have to pay extra vist to the AGH.
